Parthasarathy Temple

These images reflect the vibrant mix of heritage, everyday life, sea-side ambience, and local culture in Triplicane.

🛕 Rich Heritage & Historic Legacy

  • The core of Triplicane revolves around Parthasarathy Temple — a historic Vishnu temple built around the 8ᵗʰ century by the Pallava dynasty. The area was historically known as Thiruvallikeni (meaning “Sacred Lily Pond”) — a name that reflects its ancient roots.

  • Over centuries, Triplicane evolved into a multicultural and multi-religious neighbourhood: besides temples, the area includes mosques, churches, traditional Brahmin “agraharams” (settlements), old “mutts” (monastic orders), and even old-style “messes” and cafés where Chennai’s cultural and spiritual life still flourishes.

  • Walking through Triplicane — its narrow lanes, old houses, traditional markets and temples — offers a “heritage walk” experience: a real chance to witness a living layer of Chennai’s past blending with modernity.

What this means for interns:
They get to live and work in a part of Chennai that’s not just urban but also deeply rooted in history — a great way to connect with local culture, understand traditional urban living, and appreciate older aspects of city life often lost in newer suburbs.

🌊 Leisure, Sea & Sundown — Relaxing On and Off Work

  • Triplicane is very close to Marina Beach — often cited as one of the world’s longest urban beaches. A short stroll or quick ride will take interns to the sea, ideal for early-morning or evening walks, watching sunrises or sunsets, relaxing by the shore, or just enjoying sea-breezes after work.

  • The sea-front walk, the breeze, the sound of waves — these quieter moments by Marina can give them a real break from internship work, a chance to unwind and reflect.

Tip for interns: A light evening walk by the beach after a working day can be refreshing. It’s a simple but valuable way to decompress and soak in Chennai’s coastal vibe.

🍲 Food, Markets & Local Life — Real Chennai Living

  • Triplicane offers authentic local flavours. For example, a nearly 100-year-old sweet shop in the area (Basha Halwa Wala) is famous for its “Dum Ka Roti / Halwa” — a taste of old-Chennai culinary tradition.

  • The area’s bazaars and local markets offer everyday shopping — from small shops to traditional “mess” eateries, ideal for budget-friendly meals, snacks, groceries or quick bites.

  • Living/Accommodation-wise, Triplicane is well-connected and centrally located; interns can choose from modest lodges or hostels given its proximity to public transport (see below), shopping & food options, making it convenient for daily commuting.

🚇 Connectivity, Convenience & City Life Access

  • The neighbourhood is served by Thiruvallikeni railway station (on Chennai’s MRTS), making commutes easier for interns staying a bit farther out, or for weekend travels.

  • Because Triplicane lies near older parts of Chennai (temples, colleges, heritage zones), interns have easy access to cultural sites, education hubs, city markets, and local transport — balancing work, study, city-life and leisure conveniently.

🎯 What This Adds to the Internship Experience

Bringing interns to Triplicane — rather than a sterile corporate campus — offers a rich, immersive living-and-learning experience:

  • They don’t just intern — they live a slice of Chennai’s historic & cultural heritage.

  • Outside work they can explore beach, food, culture, city life — giving them holistic exposure beyond only HR/finance/business training.

  • It becomes a real urban-life exposure: understand city dynamics, local markets, people, transport, culture.

  • The lifestyle and environment give a unique balance — serious work in the day, calming sea-walks, local cuisine and cultural exploration in evenings/weekends.

  • Convenient relaxation & entertainment after work: Having malls + multiplexes nearby means interns don’t need long travel to unwind — they can go for a movie, eat out, shop or hang out with friends.

  • Mixed experience of work + leisure + city-life: Living/working in Triplicane while having access to modern malls gives interns a balanced lifestyle — combining the heritage and charm of coastal/cultural Chennai with urban entertainment and convenience.

  • Flexibility for weekends and group outings: Malls like Express Avenue or Nexus Vijaya provide ample space for group outings — useful if multiple interns are together, fostering bonding outside the internship work.

  • Easy accessibility: Since Triplicane is relatively central and well-connected by public transport (e.g. via Thiruvallikeni railway station on Chennai’s MRTS), commuting to these malls/theatres is manageable.
