ATS compliant resume-for any online job application
Off late I come across similar grievances from freshers and experienced job seekers that they have applied for several jobs online but though they possessed the required qualification and skill set they were rejected the job offer. Nevertheless they were not even called for an interview. If you too have experienced this scenario then this article is just for you.The companies employ an algorithm or a system to track applications that are received online. These system goes by a programmed protocol in scanning and screening the applications. If the application lacks the required keyword mentioned in the program the ATS just rejects the application and thus you receive an email of regret. Now, how to edit an ATS compliant resume.In this post and the sequel of this subject I'll share the updated information on ATS compliant resume, and share few templates to help you.
P = Photos & Image Resume
I = Icons, Italics
T = Tables, Text Boxes
C = Colours (Dark & Multi-colours)
H = Hyperlinks, Horizontal Lines
D = Design elements like Graphics, Mixed fonts
E = Extra features (e.g., Symbols, Underlines, Long vertical lines)
S = Side Panels, Symbols
I = Italics, Icons
G = Graphs, Quotation Marks
N = Numbers (Font sizes under 11),
20 things that ATS will REJECT your CV/Resume for:
1. Photos & Image Resume
2. Icons
3. Symbols (also ®️ as in PRINCE2)
4. Text Boxes
5. Tables
6. Graphs
7. Horizontal Lines
8. Underlines
9. Long vertical lines
10. Side Panels
13. Dark Colours (White font on dark background.)
14. Italics
15. “” Quotation Marks
16. Graphics
17. Font Sizes less than 11
18. Hyperlinks
19. Multi-colours.
20. Mixed font.
Submit online applications in Word format, not pdf.
Assume the above violations for ALL regions.
Applicant Tracking System (ATS) software reads and rejects CV/Resume within 2-6 seconds, if any of 1-20 are present.
Make sure CVs are tailored with specific keywords from the Job Description, for EACH individual job you apply for.
Do I wish ATS didn’t exist? Oh yes!
But it does, and it’s here to stay for now.
Take the time to be ATS-compliant, to avoid the unnecessary misery of being rejected by a MACHINE!
